CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville National Little League (CNLL) Intermediate 50/70 All Star Team won the Little League Intermediate 50/70 State Tournament Monday, July 8. The tournament was held at St. Bethlehem Civitan Park in Clarksville.

The team will now become Team Tennessee and compete in the Southeast Regional Tournament in Kernersville, NC, July 18-21.

The team of twelve boys competed in the district’s 50/70 Little League beginning in June.  They remained undefeated in regular season and district play.  During the State Tournament at St. B, the team lost their first game by 1 run, putting them in the losers bracket.

CNLL fought back to win against the defending State Champion team, South Jefferson in the final two games.

Boys ages eleven to thirteen are eligible to compete in the 50/70 League.  However, the CNLL team was the youngest team to compete in the tournament.  It is comprised of eight league age eleven-year-olds, three league age twelve-year-olds and one league age thirteen-year-old.

“This team is really something special.  These boys have a love for the game unlike any I have ever witnessed,” said Matt Wallace, head coach. “They work hard on the field, but more importantly, they appreciate and support each other off the field.  These boys are something to watch.”

Assistant Coaches for the team include Frazier Allen, John Gibson and Loren Nebben.

The 2019 Intermediate 50/70 State Championship team consists of: Garrett Allen, Harrison Cassle, Brennan Gibson, Carter Hedrick, Drew Miller, Ben Moore, Porter Murff, Cooper Nebben, Hezekiah Scott, Dawson Smith, Hayden Smith, and Colton Wallace.

“Our 50/70 team will be the first team since the 1990 12-year-old team to compete for a Southeast Regional Title,” said Ben Moore, League President. “The SE Region is made up of the top 50/70 teams from Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. The winner of the SE Region will compete in the Little League 50/70 World Series to be held in Livermore, California July 28- August 4, 2019.  Clarksville National Little League is proud of their accomplishments and wishes them the best on their quest for a Southeast Region Title.”
