CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools are set to reopen their doors tomorrow morning an hour later than normal school times, with a possibility of closing on Wednesday.

Following the floods in Clarksville, the school system announced that all CMCSS schools will reopen on a one-hour delay tomorrow, on Tuesday, February 18.

“While main roads are open, a few secondary roads remain closed,” CMCSS said in a news release sent to parents. “The Transportation Department has adjusted routes and will notify families in affected areas.”

CMCSS advises that buses will not travel on closed roads, and drivers will use their discretion to prioritize safety. According to the school system, the one-hour delay will provide better visibility for the morning commute.

Any families who are impacted by flooding should contact their child’s school, and employees should inform their direct supervisor.

Winter Storm Warning may close schools

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Clarksville-Montgomery County, beginning at 9 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, until noon on Wednesday, February 19.

Currently, heavy snow is expected with total snow accumulations between 3-4 inches. Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous, which could impact the Wednesday morning commute.

“If forecasts hold, schools and district offices may be closed Wednesday and possibly longer depending on the impact of the storm,” CMCSS said. “We will communicate with families tomorrow afternoon after receiving the latest updates from the National Weather Service. Please be prepared for a possible winter storm and closures.”

CMCSS has four of five inclement weather stockpile days left. If all five days are exhausted, CMCSS could possibly receive a waiver from the Commissioner of Education for the January 10 closure due to the State of Emergency declaration.
