CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) recognized business and community leaders at their Partners in Education Breakfast Thursday at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. The annual event celebrates the contributions and partnerships of the community with the school system.
The Rising Star Award goes to first year partners that have gone above and beyond involvement with their partner school. Blake Harris of Harris Holt Martial Arts Academy accepted that award.
Boots on the Ground is an award that has ties to a military unit. SSG Shironda Jones is no longer assigned to Kenwood High School but the partnership continues with SSG Chuck Sadler with the Tennessee National Guard.
The award known as the Innovative Partner Award is given to a long-time Partner in Education that finds new and innovative ways to support their partner school. First Advantage Bank was honored for their support of Barksdale Elementary School.
Two Corporate Partner Awards were given to long-time Partners in Education for outstanding and consistent service over a number of years. One went to Kim Chong at Excell Market & BBQ for East Montgomery Elementary School and the other was given to The Griffis Team of Exit Realty Screamin’ Eagle for West Creek Middle School.
The recipient of the Community Commitment Award helps to meet immediate financial needs of their partner school. Furniture Connection accepted the award for their support of Kenwood Middle School.
The STEM Partner of the Year contributes to STEM programs through teacher externships and classroom demonstrations. The school system recognized CDE Lightband with the STEM Award for their partnership to all 39 schools in the district.
Another STEM Partner recognized was Waterdogs Scuba and Safety with the Stem Award presented to owner Rich Holladay and assistant Cecil Stout for supporting many high, middle and elementary schools in the district.
The highest award a community partner can receive from CMCSS is the Sarah Ditmore Cooper Award which goes to a partner that models professionalism and goes above and beyond for multiple years, offering assistance, guidance, volunteer hours and financial resources.
David Blevins and Chick-fil-A on Madison Street received the honor of The Sarah Ditmore Cooper Award for their many years of support to Clarksville High School.
