CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- The first day of the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System’s (CMCSS) breakfast and lunch distribution took place Tuesday, March 17.

On Monday, March 16, CMCSS announced they would provide free meals to children under 18 years old from March 17-20 while school is on break in response the COVID-19 pandemic,

After monitoring and evaluating the meals for children plan that was announced yesterday, CMCSS has added three additional serving locations.

Additionally, the district has received a waiver from the USDA to serve both breakfast and lunch during one distribution window.

More than 1,300 students received meals today, the first date of the program.

From Wednesday, March 18 through Friday, March 20, CMCSS will provide breakfast and lunch to individuals 18 years and younger at no cost.

Breakfast and lunch will be distributed between 10 a.m. and Noon.

Meals will be distributed via a grab-and-go, curbside method at the following sites:

  • Barksdale Elementary School, 1230 Little Bobcat Lane
  • Burt Elementary, 110 Bailey Street
  • Byrns Darden Elementary- 609 E Street
  • Glenellen Elementary- 825 Needmore Road
  • Moore Elementary- 1350 Madison Street
  • Ringgold Elementary- 240 Ringgold Road

Additionally locations include

  • Kenwood Elementary- 1101 Peachers Mill Road
  • Minglewood Elementary- 215 Cunningham Lane

They will be available at the following high schools

  • Kenwood- 251 East Pine Mountain Road
  • Montgomery Central-3955 Highway 48
  • Northeast-3701 Trenton Road
  • West Creek- 1210 West Creek Coyote Trail

The child receiving the meal must be present at the distribution site. Meals cannot be consumed on site, per USDA regulations.

Schools are closed through March 27.
