CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The results from the Montgomery County Election Commission have been tallied, and the push for a consolidated, metropolitan government has failed.
In order to pass, the measure required a majority of votes in both the city and county referendums. Both Clarksville and Montgomery County voted against the measure with the following numbers:
Metropolitan Government Charter Referendum – Montgomery County:
For Consolidation of City of Clarksville and Montgomery County – 12%
Against Consolidation of City of Clarksville and Montgomery County – 88%
Metropolitan Government Charter Referendum – City of Clarksville:
For Consolidation of City of Clarksville and Montgomery County – 41%
Against Consolidation of City of Clarksville and Montgomery County – 59%
