CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Beginning Monday, April 8, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library joins libraries all over the country in celebrating the many ways libraries build strong communities by providing critical resources, programs and expertise.
National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming lives and communities. Libraries are at the heart of their cities, towns, schools and campuses. They have public spaces where people of all backgrounds can come together and connect.
Library programs encourage community members to meet to discuss civic issues, work together using new technologies and learn alongside one another in foreign language classes, to name just a few of the opportunities libraries offer to bring people together. Library staff also partner with other civic and service organizations to actively engage with the people they serve, always striving to make sure their community’s core needs are being met.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library helps lead the community by offering weekly programs for all ages, access to technology, and a summer reading program that serves hundreds of children during each week of its six-week run.

“Libraries are cornerstones in our nation’s communities, promoting the free exchange of information and ideas for all,” said Martha Hendricks, Library Director. “They also foster civic engagement by keeping people informed and aware of community events and issues. Your library is the community hub where hope, knowledge and inspiration come together.”
Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library will get an early start on National Library Week by hosting the Cumberland Winds Jazz Trio band on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. in the atrium of the library. The rest of National Library Week will feature local artists, free library card replacements, late fee forgiveness, giveaways, and more with a special opportunity each day for library visitors.
