CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Close to 300 veterans and veteran supporters filled the William O. Beach Civic Hall Monday for the annual Clarksville-Montgomery County Memorial Day Ceremony.
The event, hosted by the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization (VSO) honors and remembers those military service members who answered the call of duty and paid the ultimate price. Guest speaker for the ceremony was U.S. Army Chaplain Major (Retired) Arthur Stull.

VSO Director Frank Mir talked about the ceremony. “Why do we commemorate? Let us honor them in memorial, let us honor them in life, do it today because we are not promised tomorrow,” said Mir.
A special tribute was also presented for Colonel (Retired) Ted Crozier Sr. by his son Judge Ted Crozier Jr. Crozier, who passed away in January, served with the 101st at Fort Campbell and as Mayor of Clarksville for two terms.

Near the end of the ceremony, Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, and Major (Retired) Arthur Stull placed a wreath to honor those who have given their lives in the service of the nation.

Wreaths were also placed by other local veteran service organizations to honor their fallen. Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter 4895, Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 457, Marine Corp League Detachment 603, Women Veterans of America Chapter 47.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter 11160, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45 and Chapter 101, Military Officers Association of America Fort Campbell Chapter, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 396, Triple Nickle Chapter 555, Gold Star Wives Tuckasee Chapter and American Legion Post 143.
