CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville man was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for multiple drug charges.
WKRN News 2 reports that Chris Young, 26, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and 280 grams 280 grams or more of crack cocaine, attempted possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He also pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
A press release states Young was arrested near the Genesis Teen Learning Center while he was attempting to obtain a large amount of cocaine from another person. He was carrying a firearm and $10,000 cash.
Young has had two previous drug felony convictions and was arrested for unlawful possessions of firearms in the past. He was among 32 defendants to be charged in the drug trafficking case.
Two other Clarksville residents, Demetrius Duncan and Alto Parnell, were also convicted for the crime and are awaiting sentencing.
