CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville man has been indicted by the grand jury and charged with causing a wreck that fatally injured a construction worker on Riverside Drive.
Justin Lee Clark is charged with vehicular homicide and three counts of aggravated reckless assault in connection with the October 19, 2018, Riverside Drive wreck that resulted in the death of 43-year-old Robert Bartz.
Clark was driving a Ford F-450 truck south on Riverside Drive at the intersection of College Street when he traveled through a construction work area cordoned off with orange cones and a police officer cruiser was stationed to divert from the construction area.
Investigators determined Clark allegedly failed to drive in the designated lane and hit the front of the parked patrol car, almost striking an officer. Clark’s truck then hit a boom lift and scissor lift occupied by five workers.
A blood sample from Clark showed THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) was present in his system at the time of the wreck.
All five men were transported to the hospital.
Bartz, 43, died from his injuries at Vanderbilt hospital about a week later.
Clark is scheduled to be arraigned Monday, Oct. 7 in Judge Jill Ayers court.
Readers are reminded that anyone charged with a crime is accused of committing a crime and entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in the court of law.
