CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Fire Rescue responded to 300 Randell Dr. for a first responder call at 8:34 Friday night. A 54-year-old man was found outside in a wheelchair with third-degree burns to most of his body. The fire was out upon arrival.
Montgomery County EMS quickly transported the patient, but he succumbed to his injuries while in route to Tennova Healthcare.
“Portable Oxygen was being used and it appears there may have been smoking involved,” said Fire Marshal Ricky Cumberland. “This could be a deadly combination.”
The fire death is under investigation.
