HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) arrested a Clarksville man after a brief vehicle chase Wednesday.

According to a news release, Trooper Michael Dennis was conducting stationary patrol on US 41A in Hopkinsville at 8:03 a.m. when he observed a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. He activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle but the driver continued to flee.

As the vehicle continued southbound toward the underpass of I-24, it ran the stop light at the intersection of US 41A and the westbound off-ramp and continued toward Oak Grove.

As the vehicle approached Gate 7 Road, it started to slow and pulled onto the left shoulder.

The driver, identified as Willie L. Gray, 39, of Clarksville, exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident at approximately 8:07 a.m.

Gray was charged with the following offenses and booked into the Christian County Jail:
1) Speeding 26 MPH or > Over the Limit
2) DUI 1st Offense (Aggravating Circumstances)
3) Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle Prohibited
4) Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree – Police Officer
5) Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (2 counts)
6) Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
7) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
8) No Operator’s License
9) Reckless Driving
10) Disregarding A Traffic Control Device (3 counts)
11) Failure to Wear Seatbelt
