CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville resident Jeff Danault is participating in the Great Cycle Challenge this month to help raise money for childhood cancer research.

Danault’s goal is to ride his bicycle 777 miles during the month of June.

As of Friday, June 2, he has completed 28.4 miles toward his goal.

“Kids should be living life, not fighting for it,” Daunault said. “So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children’s Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.”

Danault was inspired to turn his life around and do something more after a conversation with his 11-year-old daughter. Her words encouraged him to sign up for the Trans American Bicycle Race, which will require months of intense preparation and training.

He decided to participate in the Great Cycle Challenge to not only practice his riding, but to make a difference in the community through a charity project.

“I do not claim to be the best, the fastest, or anything like that. I’m just a guy who set out to prove to my daughter with the right mindset you can literally change your world and become bigger than you ever imagined,” Danault said. “All it takes is a little thinking, a lot of effort and the will to win and yes anything is possible!”
