CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Clarksville Kings made program history over the weekend, skating in the first travel hockey series ever played by Clarksville High School Hockey in a competitive two-game set against the Lexington Thoroughbreds.

The opening game saw Lexington claim a narrow 5-4 victory in a physical, emotionally charged contest that featured frequent penalties and multiple ejections. Despite the loss, Clarksville stayed within striking distance throughout and showed it could compete toe-to-toe with an unfamiliar opponent on the road.

The second game proved to be the defining moment of the weekend. Clarksville earned a 4–3 win, highlighted by a dramatic final five minutes that tested the Kings’ composure and resolve. Late in the game, Clarksville was assessed a series of questionable penalties, forcing the Kings to defend a 5-on-3 power play for nearly two full minutes.

Goaltender Riley Barnes delivered the performance of the night, standing tall under relentless pressure and turning away multiple high-quality scoring chances to keep the Kings in front. His calm presence in net anchored the penalty kill and preserved Clarksville’s slim lead.

The decisive moment came shorthanded, when Aiden Hasse broke free and buried the game-winning goal, swinging momentum permanently in Clarksville’s favor and sealing a historic victory.

The win marked the first travel victory in Clarksville hockey history, a milestone achievement for the program and head coach Josh Tobin.
