CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) One of the oldest and most popular area sports leagues in town will enter its 50th season. Started in 1967, Clarksville Jr Pro Football has provided a full contact league for ages 5-14, and shows no signs of going anywhere anytime soon. The league’s mission in the community is to give kids a focus on building unity, loyalty, and team work.
“The purpose of Clarksville Jr Pro football is to provide a safe platform for kids to learn the game of football and lessons they can carry with them the rest of their life.” said Ronny Page, Vice President of the league.
The league also tries to put safety at the top of the list. Each coach is required to take a yearly concussion awareness test, and encourages each coach to educate themselves more through Heads Up football, a safety program for youth football. The league also offers cheerleading for ages 5-14.
