CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Housing Authority’s annual Back to School Bash at Summit Heights drew close to 200 kids and adults Tuesday as they enjoyed an afternoon of family fun.

The event included more than 25 community resource organizations, including Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools. There was also food, music, books, games, prizes, educational activities and, most popular on a hot summer day, the foam machine.

Dawn Sanders-Garrett, interim director and consultant for the Clarksville Housing Authority, said each of the young people at the event would be receiving a backpack.

“Our Back to School Bash is an opportunity for our community partners to come out with our residents and engage in food and fun as well as community resources, helping them to understand our resources are in the community to help them as well as get ready for back to school,” Sanders-Garrett said.

The Housing Authority originally scheduled two Back to School events, one at Lincoln Homes and another at Summit Heights last week. Rainstorms washed out both activities, with a rescheduled Lincoln Homes event shutting down early on Monday afternoon because of rain.
