CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – In the midst of her extreme grief, Raushanah Hasan Anderson and her family want people to know how big and loving Antony T. Richardson, Jr.’s heart was and how proud they are of his decision to save a life.

He made a decision to be an organ donor when he turned 18 years old in February 2019.

Sadly, his life was taken from him just six months later.

Richardson was found on the side of Britton Springs Road on Oct. 6. He had been shot in the head and did not recover from his injuries. He died on Wednesday, October 9 at  Tristar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

Anderson, his mother, is an organ donor and educated him about the option when he received his identification. According to Donate Life, “Any adult age 18 or older can register to be an organ, eye, and tissue donor – regardless of age or medical history.”

“I am an organ donor and asked him if he would do the same and he agreed,” Anderson said. “Little did I know, he would donate before me.”

On October 9, staff lined the halls for a Donate Life “Hero Walk” to honor Richardson as he was taken to the operating room. There was an announcement for a moment of silence and Anderson, draped in a Donate Life blanket was wheeled through the hallways.

His mother and family followed heartbroken and distraught but trying to stay strong.  Anderson said a little boy in Texas received his heart.

“I’m so proud of my son,” Anderson said. “I take comfort to know that God will do his will.”

A video of his Hero Walk has been viewed over 13,000 times and continues to be viewed and shared, she said.

They hold on to the memories of his life and pray for justice.

“He was known for his smile,” Anderson said. “He was a jokester and his wit always had everyone laughing out loud. He was always smiling. He has a close-knit family and we are all devastated by his loss.”

Anderson said she’s received an outpouring of love from her family and other mothers in the community who have faced the devastation of losing a child to gun violence.

“I am overwhelmed (by) mothers of murdered children reaching out to me daily. This has been a bittersweet journey for me,” Anderson said. “I am so proud and sad balled up in one.”

Clarksville Police continue to investigate Richardson’s murder as his family prepares to lay him to rest in Nashville where he was born and raised.

“We have no clue who took his life and the investigation is still going,” Anderson said. “We moved to Clarksville three years ago and he didn’t have many friends here in Clarksville but a few who loved him. We  are looking for justice for him to help with my grieving process.”

Clarksville Police continue to investigate Richardson’s murder. They would like to speak to anyone that may have information about Mr. Richardson’s activities on October 6, 2019.
