CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Coming off a successful 2015 season which culminated in a narrow defeat at the State Championship, the Clarksville Highlanders will conduct sign-ups January 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Governor’s Square Mall in conjunction with the “New Year, New You” event.
The Highlanders are Clarksville’s High School Rugby team made up of players from all of the local high schools including Ft. Campbell H.S.
We compete in the Middle Tennessee Rugby Conference (MTRC) of the Tennessee Rugby Association (TRA).
The team is open to all interested high school aged boys including home school. Interested middle school boys are welcome to attend the meeting as well as girls, as we are looking to expand in both of these areas. There are opportunities to compete in the TRA with both.
No experience is needed!
Rugby is a fast paced physical game that is the foundation of American Football. It is well suited to help you stay in “football condition” during the off season. There are several players in the NFL as well as the NCAA who have used rugby in the off season to help them advance their game.
More and more colleges are offering scholarships for rugby. In fact, the Highlanders have several player alumni who are playing at the college level, and several more who have been approached about their college future.
Come see what the Highlanders are all about.
