CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Wildcats and Rossview Hawks traveled to Kirkwood High School Thursday for the District 13-4A championship. While Rossview fought the Wildcats close, Clarksville won in straight sets, earning their seventh consecutive district championship.

In the first set, Rossview was up 23-22, fueled by some powerful kills from Ellie Hankemeier. However, Clarksville came back and won the set 26-24.

Rossview head coach Linnie Fernlund was proud of the growth she saw from the last time they played Clarksville. “We’ve all grown a lot in the time we’ve been together,” said Fernlund. “Our back line has improved, our passing and setting have gotten way better, and it all came together tonight; we just fell a little short.”

Clarksville won the next two sets to claim the district title for a seventh straight year. Now, the Wildcats will look to earn another region title and ultimately attempt to advance to the state tournament for the first time in program history.

“It’s not easy to get to this level; it takes a lot of hard work,” said Clarksville head coach Glen Fox. “We make it look easy sometimes, but it’s not. We just have to keep working and getting better everyday, and see where it takes us.”
