CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville High Wildcats traveled to Exit 8 for the “Battle of Warfield Boulevard” soccer edition, against the Rossview Hawks on Tuesday. The Hawks struck first, but two goals in the final eight minutes of the first half led to a 2-1 Clarksville win on the road, claiming first place in the district standings for the Wildcats.
Jayven Jardiolin struck first off the assist of Ben Fitting in the 13th minute, getting the fireworks show that the first half started. The Hawks kept that lead for most of the first half, until the Wildcats caught fire in the final eight minutes. Damien Barnes evened the contest up with a goal in the 32nd minute, and just when it looked like we were going to the half tied, Bryan Frasson found the back of the net to extend the lead in the 38th minute, and completely flip the game on its head in a matter of minutes.

“We started off slow; you could tell the nerves got to us. But after we got settled in, we played well,” said Wildcats head coach Jeremy Sullivan. “We knew we were going to have to make adjustments against this team. There wasn’t one thing we did well; we just put together a complete 80 minutes, and the final score showcased that.”

The game then became a physical battle, with both teams desperate to score, Rossview looking for an answer, and Clarksville looking to extend their lead that never felt comfortable. After another 40 minutes of the intense rivalry, neither team struck gold, and the Wildcats squeaked out a big district win over their cross-town rival.
“We were getting after it in front of the goal over and over, just couldn’t find the net,” said Rossview head coach Seth Ramsey. “Our defense played generally well, but we just made a few mistakes that hurt us badly. It’s been a rough stretch, but everything is still in front of us.”
“It was a battle for a full 80 minutes, that’s how it always is when we get together,” said Sullivan. “The lead never felt comfortable, it wouldn’t have even if we were up 8. While I’m proud of them, this is not the mountain top. We have bigger goals, and we can’t let tonight be the pinnacle of our season.”
