CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The annual battle for the Warfield Shield took place on Friday as the Clarksville High Wildcats (9-0) and Rossview High Hawks (6-3) went head-to-head for one of the most anticipated matchups of the year.
Not only would the winner bring home the Warfield Shield, but they would also become the 6A Region 7 champions for the 2023-24 regular season. While it was a dogfight throughout the four quarters of play, Clarksville High found separation in the end and won 28-7.

This is the sixth consecutive year the Wildcats have defeated the Hawks, and it’s the first time Clarksville High has been named region champions since the 2007 season, according to the team’s official account on X.
With Clarksville High locking up the No. 1 overall seed for their district tournament, Rossview is locked into the second overall seed as teams continue to fight their way into the postseason.
Next up, Clarksville High is set to face the Northeast Eagles during their regular season finale. Meanwhile, Rossview High will end their regular season with a bout against the Kenwood Knights. Here are the other high school football scores throughout Montgomery County, according to Max Preps.
- Clarksville Academy (1-8) lost 12-56 to Nashville Christian.
- Fort Campbell (4-4) lost 7-56 to Owensboro Catholic.
- Kirkwood High (5-4) won 29-20 against Kenwood High (2-7).
- Montgomery Central (0-9) lost 7-44 to Station Camp.
- Northeast High (1-8) won 30-24 against Northwest High (0-9).
- West Creek (3-6) lost 6-26 to Dickson County.
