CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville High junior guard Malon Smith has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week after scoring 39 total points through two games played during the week of Dec. 25.

Throughout the 2023-24 season, the Clarksville High girls’ basketball team has showcased they are one of the best teams in the entire state of Tennessee.

Entering last week, the Lady Wildcats sat at 11-0 as they looked to extend their winning streak against Stewart County on Dec. 28, and McEwen High on Dec. 29.

They handled business soundly against each team after defeating Stewart County by 25 points and McEwen High by 15 points. Smith served as one of the leading scorers in both games. The junior guard finished with 19 points against the Rebels and 20 points against the Warriors, according to head coach Brian Rush.

With both wins, the Lady Wildcats entered this week at number 10 in the state rankings for teams listed at the class 4A level with a record of 13-0, according to Max Preps. The only other team that is still undefeated up to this point in the season in class 4A is Bradley Central, who is currently ranked number one in the state rankings.

Clarksville High girls’ basketball picked up an additional win on Jan. 3 when they narrowly defeated Beech High 67-65. Their next game is scheduled for Jan. 9 when they are expected to take on Springfield High Yellow Jackets.
