CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville High senior guard Imari Berry, who is currently ranked the 7th best player in the national class of 2024, has announced her commitment to play women’s basketball for the Clemson Tigers on her Instagram.
Berry will play under head coach Amanda Butler in hopes of bringing the Tigers their first-ever national championship. Clemson is coming off a season where they compiled a record of 19-16, which included a conference record of 7-11.
In the program’s history, they have won 3 ACC Championships, appeared in 33 NCAA Tournament games, 4 Sweet 16 appearances and have had two players selected in the WNBA Draft, according to Clemson Athletics.
Over the past year, Berry has continued to climb ESPN rankings. Going into the 2022-23 season, the 5-foot-10 guard was ranked as a four-star recruit and the 32nd best player in her class.
Then in April, after being named a Miss Basketball finalist for the second consecutive year, Berry was given the status of a five-star recruit. The updated rankings in April showed she had jumped 20 spots to 12th overall in the class of 2024.
Berry is coming off a season where she averaged 26.1 points per game and helped lead the Wildcats to a state tournament, quarterfinal appearance.
Berry is only the fourth player ranked in the top 10 from the class of 2024 to commit to their future school.
