CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- Clarksville High School today reported to TSSAA that it has discovered one of its football players is ineligible.

The player was a transfer student from out of state prior to school starting, and his new local permanent residence was not in the Clarksville High zone. The school had been given an address in the Clarksville High zone, which was used as a secondary residence.

“This is difficult for a team that has worked very hard, but I believe we will come out of this stronger and continue to be committed to offering a quality athletic program. Clarksville High is a school rich in pride and tradition and we have no doubt that our football team will finish this season as strong as they started,” Principal Jean Luna said.

“We are committed to playing fair and ensuring that rules are followed even when the consequences are heavy for the other players, their families and coaches,” Athletic Director Shannon Cummings said. “When we submit information to TSSAA, we believe it to be accurate. However, Clarksville High was provided with inaccurate information in regards to permanent residence.”

TSSAA will respond to the reported finding and communicate the consequence.
