CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville High School English teacher was honored as the Clarksville Now Teacher of the Month presented by Action Air.
Kelsey Higgins, teaches English II at Clarksville High. This is her sixth year of teaching, four of which have been at Clarksville High. She also taught one year at Rossview High School.
Upon receiving her award, Higgin said, “I just give God all the glory in this”. She went on to say that everyone, from administrators, her peers, to students, have been such a blessing and she truly appreciated being acknowledged for her efforts.
Higgins knew she wanted to get into the education field since second grade. “In this subject [English] I am able to reach students on a personal level,” she explained.
Higgins shared how influential her own high school teachers were, and they inspired her to give back in the same way.
Her students agree. Higgins nomination was submitted by a former student saying, “She [Higgins] is the sweetest and best teacher anyone could ever have. She cares deeply about her students and takes the time to make sure they understand!!”
Her involvement with the school extends beyond just the classroom. She is also the Clarksville Crazies sponsor as well as the Alpha and Omega sponsor.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, running, lifting, dogs, cats, and adventure. Originally from Ohio, she graduated from Ohio University with a major in integrated language arts education.
“As teachers were just really selfless individuals, we are here for the kids,” said Higgins.
