CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Montgomery County had two softball teams advance to regional championships on Monday. Clarksville High and Montgomery Central each came away with a win against their semi-final opponents. They both continue their playoff runs later this week.

Clarksville High came away with a 6-1 victory against Dickson County on Monday to advance to the Class 3A regional championship. The Wildcats were down early, but scored six consecutive runs to earn their spot in the region finals. According to Game Changer, Clarksville High now stands at 32-9 on the season and face Springfield High on Wednesday.

“It was a great win for the girls,” said Clarksville head coach Brian Rush. “We executed in the batters box, in the field and on the mound. The win over Dickson avenges our sectionals loss to them last year which ended our season.”

Montgomery Central softball

As for Montgomery County, they won by a score of 3-0 against Central Magnet to advance to the Class 3A regional championship. According to Game Changer, Monday marked the ninth time this year that the Indians shut out their opponent during the 2022 season. Montgomery Central has an overall record of 18-15 at this point in the season. They are fixed to match up against Creek Wood on Wednesday.

“It has been an up and down season,” said Indians head coach Chris Jackson. “We suffered several injuries early in the season, and lost some key players during that time. As a team, we are finally overall pretty health. We are a dangerous team and we have a lot of confidence in our abilities, which we showcased last night. We got baserunners on with no outs and were able to get them into scoring position, Payton Harris did a great job pitching for us as well. It was an overall team effort.”
