CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Former Clarksville High pitcher Wes Parsons was recalled by the Atlanta Braves Friday, July 19, receiving another shot in the big leagues.

Parsons made his official Major League Debut Aug. 9, 2018 and pitched five innings, allowing four runs on six hits, while striking out one. The 26 year old Wildcat alum currently sports a 1-2 overall record in 16 games pitched with 12 punchouts in 15 innings of work.

In spring training, Parsons was assertive on the mound, earning a spot on the opening day 25-man roster.

Parsons picked up his first major-league win on April 1, working a clean fifth inning in a 5-0 win over the Cubs in the Braves home opener.

Though he began the year on Atlanta’s major-league roster, Parsons was sent down on May 20 to free up a spot for Anthony Swarzak. Swarzak was acquired via trade from the Seattle Mariners. Though, the righty proved his worth with the Atlanta Braves Triple-A affiliate the Gwinnet Stripers, posting a 2.08 ERA and 8.52 K/9.

As a relief pitcher for the Braves, Parsons is no stranger to entering a game during critical times, taking over on the mound in high-leverage situations.
