CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Coming off a dominating victory over Murfreesboro, the Clarksville Headhunters headed off to Knoxville on March 9th to challenge the current D3 leaders in the state of Tennessee and True South Rugby, the Knoxville Possums. After a hard fought and muddy battle, the Headhunters came away with a loss and final score of 15-34.

From the start, both Knoxville and Clarksville came into this match at full tilt. In muddy and rainy conditions, physicality was apparent phase after phase. Each team competed for every inch of the field and were closely matched in aggression and power in the scrum.

At the half, Knoxville pulled away with a slight lead over Clarksville with the score standing 10-19. After a short 10-minute halftime, both teams came back strong during the second half.

Every try was fought hard by Knoxville with Clarksville’s defense holding strong until the last minute. However, it was to no avail. The Headhunters were narrowly outmatched by the veteran Possums. The Headhunters are now looking ahead to their last league match of the season in Memphis on April 6th and representing Clarksville at Nashville’s Nash Bash tournament on March 23rd and 24th.
