CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A local Clarksville girl won the 2018 Kids International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada last Saturday, August 25.

10-year-old Mariana Bowen has trained in martial arts from a young age. She wrestled in the Amateur Athletic Union at ages 4 and 5, and she trained and competed in Judo from 6 until 8 years old. Since then, she has been training and competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Bowen Combative Arts Academy in Clarksville.

She is a green belt in Judo and a grey belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Her father, Donnie Bowen, is her Jiu-Jitsu instructor. She has an older sister who is a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as well as two brothers who are purple belts in it and black belts in Judo.

Donnie Bowen competed in the World Master Jiu-Jitsu Championship the same weekend, placing third. He is a retired combat veteran.
