CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – ESPN Clarksville is proud to present the first annual Clarksville Fitness Fest brought to you by Sango Pool and Spa. This event focuses on fitness, health education and wellness for adults and children.

The Clarksville Fitness Fest will take place Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Austin Peay State University’s Red Barn. It starts at 7 a.m with the ClarksVegas 10k, benefitting the APSU track and field team. The festivities will continue inside and outside the Red Barn until 2 p.m.

Once you enter APSU’s Red Barn, you will find a Mecca of activity. The building will be separated into several zones: A kid’s corner, demo zone and wellness walk to name a few. There will also be an outdoor obstacle course for the public to test their strength and agility.

The Kid’s Corner, sponsored by Action Gymnastics, features fitness for youngsters, a trail mix station and tumbling demonstrations from the Action Gymnastics competitive team. Throughout the day, budding gymnasts can tumble on a mat with guidance from Action Gymnastic staff.

“I am excited to share with Clarksville everything that gymnastics has to offer. Whether it is for the recreational gymnast or competitive, the health and fitness benefits are plenty,” Action’s owner Mary Bricks said.

Sango Pool and Spa in conjunction with ClarksvilleNow will also be giving away a hot tub, grill and outdoor fire pit during the event. Paul LoBianco of Sango Pool and Spa says he wanted to partner with 5 Star for the Fitness Fest to promote the health benefits of hot tubs.

“Yeah, it’s a great way to spend an evening with your spouse or friends, but a hot tub is also a natural and successful form of stress relief, it helps with your blood pressure, headaches and the acceleration of the healing process,” Lobianco says. “They are great for people with arthritis and suffer from insomnia as well.”
“Nothing is better than having a long hard day at work, on your feet all day, maybe you ran that 10K for the first time and coming home, climbing into the hot tub, relaxing, feeling the steam all around you and the jets on your back and then crawling into bed for a great night’s sleep,” he says.

Out on the Fitness Floor, people can get their heart going or stretch those muscles with fitness classes throughout the day. The Fitness Festival will have Zumba, kickboxing and yoga classes.
