Clarksville, TN. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) In an effort to encourage residents dealing with extreme poverty, challenging access to education and access to fresh water, retired Veteran Adolph Dagan and his wife Kafui, spent their summer working with more than 500 residents in Togo, West Africa.

More than 300 young people received clothing, support to continue their education, and spiritual encouragement in a month long visit from members of the Dagan Foundation, a faith-based organization founded in 2012 by Dagan to support infrastructure and education in Togo, West Africa.

Dagan travels over 2,000 miles annually with support from friends, volunteers, and the religious community members to support various education and environmental projects in Togo. Growing up, he did not have access to an elementary school in his village. He had to walk 2 miles to school for over 8 years.

After coming to the US, joining the military, and sharing his devotion to give back, his foundation was formed. Dagan works tirelessly to raise money, build awareness, and think of ways to offer a strategic plans to help his impoverished community that he loves so much. Dagan founded a school where residents in the village can have easy access to a quality education.

The Daganhoe Elementary School was established in 2007 and offers each student a free education. Shortly after opening the school, the Dagan Foundation was established. Along with Action Bethesda Organization, supporters of Dagan Foundation built a water well and water pump so that residents would not have to travel 5 miles to get fresh water.

Since 2007, 2000 youth have been educated. This year, twenty 12-year-old’s graduated from Daganhoe Elementary. Dagan Foundation pays the salary of 4 teachers each month, ensuring that students in primary grades 1 through 6 receive education. Each teacher works with 25 students.

Through the efforts of 5 dedicated volunteers, more citizens in Togo received funding to pay for needed medications. $1000 in American dollars are provided annually to care for prescription needs from malaria, high blood pressure, diabetes, and flu. $500 Togo currency called FCFA equals $1 American dollar.

The Dagan Foundation is working to promote future projects, including an adult literacy program, a middle school in the village, a letter writing campaign between American and Togo elementary school student and to place 50 water wells in villages by June 2018
