CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville duo who describe themselves as ‘a bunch of kids from Clarksville trying to get our name out there doing what we love,’ are getting significant play on YouTube with an inventive cover of Adele’s “Hello.”

The video is a side project for Maddi Mauk and Lawton Vierkant, who are members of a five-piece band call Minours. “We were just doing this for fun,” Mauk told Clarksvillenow. “We ended up putting a lot more work into it than we originally thought we were going to and it just kind of blew up,” she said.

The band is part of a collective of local artists who collaborate whenever possible and are now concentrating on turning out polished music videos in hopes of gaining some traction for the local music scene.

The song was produced by Mike Reynolds, who operates out of a studio in his garage. The video was shot by Robbie Hall, also of Clarksville.

Vierkant and Hall are APSU alumni.

The song has already received nearly 4,000 views on YouTube.

“We plan to do more covers and totally change up the style and make it our own,” Mauk said.

Minours are planning to release a single by the end of the year and a full EP in early 2016. In the meantime, they’re planning “a house show out in the boonies,” on December 5.
