CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Country Club will celebrate their 100 year anniversary in a Centennial Celebration now through Saturday, July 6.
A Firecracker Golf Scramble will open the event, at 9 a.m., Thursday July 4th with 20 teams participating.
The festivities will continue at 2 p.m. with carnival activities and concessions. An attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Cake Walk will be organized at 3 p.m., requiring 275 people and cakes to complete. Members, their guests, and employees are asked to participate in order to meet the Guinness requirements. All leftover cake will be donated to Manna Café.
A buffet dinner will be available at 5 p.m., followed by magic tricks from City Councilman Wallace Redd. Music from DJ Chief and the Party Machine will then take place on the Miller Lite Stage provided by Ajax Turner Distributing. The night will conclude with a fireworks display put on by Country Club member Chris Wofford.
Inflatables and carnival games will open again the following day at 2 p.m., with a watermelon eating competition and another buffet dinner to follow. Karaoke will be taking place at 5:45 p.m., replacing the talent show previously scheduled for that time. Music from the Jeff Batson Band will close out events for July 5.
A Fun Walk scheduled for 8:00 a.m. will begin the July 6 activities. It is open to the public with an entry fee of $25, including a water bottle and lunch. The Country Club will partner with the Clarksville YMCA for this event, and proceeds are going toward a scholarship fund set up in honor of Dalton Wafford. Relay games, tug of war, sack races, and a limbo contest, will be added to the day’s carnival games. Dinner will be provided again, with the Freddie Snell Band acting as the final performance of the celebration.
Debbie Ashcraft, Restaurant Supervisor for the Clarksville Country Club said the event will be a unique one for Clarksville, and that the Country Club wants everyone to “realize that the club is family oriented,” with many activities taking place there regularly.
