The event was aimed to – heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, Generate support for local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood sprit and police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized against crime.

“I have been enlightened by how well the community has come together, how many people who showed up and the amount support that this year’s National Night Out event had,” said Sharon Coffey, employee specialist at New Providence Community Policing Center.

Coffey said she was overwhelmed with joy because the event will help the community and the police departments have safer neighborhoods.

“Crime is not welcome in the New Providence neighborhood or anywhere in Montgomery County and this event helped deliver that message to everyone in the community,” said Coffey.

Members of the Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, and the Clarksville Fire Department met and mingled with members of the New Providence community to help build positive relationships and foster community safety.

Many local businesses and organizations were also on hand to offer helpful resources and community safety education along with free food. Clarksville Explorer Post 540, Bradford health Services, Alcoholics Anonymous, Teen and Young Adults Suicide Prevention and the Montgomery County Election Commission were available to offer support to the community at The National Night Out event.
