Community pride will take center stage on Saturday, April 25, as residents, businesses and organizations gather for the Great American Clean-Up Day Kickoff in downtown Clarksville. Hosted by the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Montgomery County and Bi-County Solid Waste Management, the event will begin at 9 a.m. at the Montgomery County Courthouse, One Millennium Plaza.
The annual event brings together volunteers from across the community with a shared goal: keeping Clarksville clean, welcoming and beautiful for residents and visitors alike. Participants will meet at the courthouse plaza, where cleanup supplies – including trash bags, gloves and safety vests – will be distributed, along with assigned cleanup locations throughout the community.
The cleanup will take place rain or shine, underscoring the community’s commitment to stewardship and civic pride. Volunteers are encouraged to register in advance so organizers can ensure adequate supplies are available.
Who can take part in Clean-Up, and what they do
Businesses, civic clubs, nonprofit organizations, youth groups and individual residents are all encouraged to take part. Many organizations choose to participate as teams, turning the cleanup into both a service project and a team-building opportunity. Youth groups are welcome to participate with adult supervision, making the event an excellent chance to instill community responsibility in the next generation.
Participants can also enjoy light breakfast items and snacks before heading out to their designated cleanup areas.
During the event, teams will work in assigned locations across Clarksville to collect litter and debris. After completing their cleanup assignments, teams are asked to document their efforts by submitting photos and reporting the number of bags collected to event organizers. These reports help demonstrate the community’s collective impact and highlight the power of volunteer action.
