CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Civitan Club hosted it’s annual Public Safety Awards Wednesday recognizing heroic first responders whose service to the community was found to be above and beyond the call of duty.

Representing the Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Service, Firefighter Jonathan Hughes. Hughes joined the the Palmyra Fire District in 2012 and has been an exceptional firefighter for the past six years and is also a Certified Emergency Medical Responder.

Representing the Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service, Paramedic Dana Proffitt. Proffitt started with EMS part time in 2003 as a Emergency Medical Technician and moved to full time in 2005, becoming a Paramedic with EMS in 2012.

Representing Clarksville Fire Rescue, Firefighter Leonard Rye. Rye is a ten year veteran firefighter with Clarksville Fire Rescue and is a diligent firefighter who is dedicated to his job and serves the citizens of Clarksville with respect and dignity.

Representing the Clarksville Policed Department, Sgt. Greg Beebe. Beebe is a credit to the police department and the Clarksville community is a safer place thanks to his dedication. He volunteers to teach both the the adult and teen Citizens Police Academy.

Representing the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Patrol Deputy Randy Paddock. Paddock started with the Sheriff’s Office in 2008, began working at the jail the next year and moved to patrol in 2013. In 2017 Paddock is credited with saving the life of a 4-week old child with CPR and use of an AED.

Representing the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy, Deputy Jeff Youree. Youree had his leg amputated below the knee for medical reasons. He now uses a prosthetic leg and has worked hard to return to regular duty with the reserves. Last year he volunteered over 200 hours with the reserves and continues to help protect the community.
