CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Civitan Club hosted Public Safety Awards Day to honor members of law enforcement, firefighters, and medical services Wednesday.
Paramedic Brian Hollis was recognized for his work with Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services. Hollis began his EMS career in 1993 in Houston County and has been with Montgomery County EMS since 1998. He is currently a Critical Care Paramedic and Field Training Officer.
Firefighter Jerry Buchanan with the Montgomery County Fire Service was recognized for his 31 years of work. Buchanan spent many years as Montgomery County Fire Chief before retiring from that post and is also a Certified Emergency Medical Responder and handles medical calls when the need arises.
Clarksville Police Officer Steven Deering was recognized for his actions following a pursuit in June of 2018 when shots were fired at his patrol car by a suspect. In November 2018 Deering is credited with helping save the life of a shooting victim and was given the Clarksville Police Department’s Life Saver Award.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Brown was recognized for his 37 years of law enforcement and his work with the sheriff’s office since 2011 as a School Resource Officer. Brown has also raised over $50,000 selling brownies he bakes to help Richview Middle School and Clarksville High School with fundraising efforts for events and activities.
Clarksville Fire Rescue Engineer, Glenn Stewart, was also recognized but was unable to make it to the Civitan Club lunch and will be presented his award at a later date.
