CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Local churches are coming together to prepare boxes for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child collections. Groups can drop off their donations this week, and volunteers are stuffing boxes and shipping them to children around the world.

The idea behind Operation Christmas Child is to provide children in impoverished countries a gift for Christmas. These gifts come in an iconic red and green shoebox. Participants can simply fill a shoebox with school supplies, small toys, hair clips, combs, soap, water bottles, flip flops, socks, flashlights, etc. and one “Wow” item such as a soccer ball and pump, or a stuffed animal.

Suggestions for items to donate can be found on the organizations website www.samaritanspurse.org/OCC .

You can choose a box for either a boy or girl, ages 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14.
