Clarksville, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Christian Centurions traveled to Zion Christian Academy for the TSIAA State Championship against the Eagles on Saturday. Zion Christian Academy put up big scoring numbers early, and the Centurions were unable to come back, falling 10-0 in the state championship game, but earning the runner-up for a second straight year.

While the Centurions were able to keep Zion Christian off the board in the first inning, the Eagles offense erupted in the second as they scored eight runs in the bottom half. Clarksville Christian found success getting runners on base, however, they were unable to find home plate. The Centurions fell in the title game but complete another historic season as the second best TSIAA softball team in the state of Tennessee.

“Hats off to Zion Christian, they kept us off balance and we did not adjust well to their speed of play,” said Clarksville Christian head coach Travis Cocke.  “Our youth & inexperience showed up at the wrong time during the game, and Zion took advantage. However, today’s loss is not going to diminish a 16-6 season where we broke every school record possible, were one of the top 5 scoring teams in the state and finished as TSIAA runner-up for the 2nd year in a row. With so many returning starters, this team is going to be fun to watch for years to come. Y’all stay tuned…. big things are happening at CCS.”
