CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) – On Wednesday, December 19, Clarksville Christian School’s (CCS) Jake Travis became the newest member of the Martin Methodist College Clay Target Team.

In the CCS gym, which was packed with friends, family members, students, and school officials, Travis made his commitment to become a Redhawk official.

Redhawks Coach Chad Whittenburg told the audience that Travis was “one of my top recruits, and he was one of the top recruits in the country.” This is no small statement considering that Martin Methodist team has won the National Championship for the past three years in a row.

Coach Whittenburg, who is also an assistant coach on the U.S. Olympic Team, indicated that he has big aspirations for Travis and his other athletes. “We tap our athletes to be the next recruits to go win the Olympic medals. There are nine Team USA members who are also on the team at Martin Methodist,” Whittenburg said.

Earning a college scholarship is another milestone in what has been a banner year for Travis, who won the Tennessee State Championship over the summer. In his final season at CCS, Travis now has his sights set on helping his team with a national championship.

Travis addressed the crowd and thanked many of those who have supported him in his journey, and he praised Clarksville Christian for the platform he has been given to succeed.

CCS President, Dr. Brad Moser, commended Travis and noted that he made school history with this signing and “has paved the way for athletes across all sports at the school to follow in his footsteps.”

Clarksville Christian School opened its doors in August, 2007 and is now in its twelfth year of operation. Located in the Sango area of Clarksville, CCS has continued to experience dramatic growth and success in the areas of academics, athletics and the arts.
