CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville Christian School students recently collected almost 3,000 books to benefit children at McIntosh Elementary School in Rockford, Illinois.

A Special Education teacher at CCS, Denise Cameron organized the effort after learning that many of the students at McIntosh are classified as homeless, and are not permitted by the school system to check out library books.

Cameron’s sister is a teacher at McIntosh.

In the three short weeks following the start of school, CCS students brought in a total of 2,848 books, and Corporate sponsor Chick-fil-A on Madison Street also supported the effort by rewarding the class collecting the most books with an IceDream party.

The books will be delivered to McIntosh, where the Literacy Leader will oversee distribution of the books and create a book exchange so that all students can have access to books throughout the school year.

Ms, Cameron was pleased with the outcome of the book drive, saying, “I am amazed! I expected 300 books, not nearly 3,000! Once again, CCS came together to bless people we don’t even really know, just because a need was expressed. We are God’s hands and feet.”

Clarksville Christian School was founded in 2007.
