Clarksville, Tenn. – October 7th, 2014 marked yet another special day in the history of Clarksville Christian School (CCS), as the school held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for their new gymnasium. The gym is part of a 40,000 square foot addition to CCS, now in its eighth year.
As students filed into the gymnasium for the first time, there were wide eyes, looks of wonder, and astonished faces. They were joined by many parents, CCS board members, City Councilman Jeff Burkhart, and State Representative Joe Pitts.
Board Member Eric Yow directed the events of the morning by welcoming everyone and building up the excitement. CCS students who have been at the school since its opening in 2007 were invited to participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony. After the ribbon was cut, signifying the official opening of the gym, the Varsity basketball team was given the honor of unveiling the mascot at center court.
Basketball players and captains Hunter Burkhart and Lindsey Mimms had the distinct honor of shooting the first hoops to much applause and shouts of joy from the crowd. “This is an exciting day!” exclaimed Hunter. He has been attending CCS since it first opened and became part of the first basketball team at CCS. “I felt blessed to take that first shot,” he said, “and I can’t describe in words how it will feel during our first game.”
