CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Christian School (CCS) opened for their 14th school year on Wednesday, August 12 as a record number of close to 400 students from Pre-K through 12th Grade were welcomed back from a long summer break.
Classrooms closed in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic which led to virtual education. You could feel the excitement as CCS President Dr. Brad Moser, teachers and staff greeted students and parents as students headed through the doors to their classes.
“The members of our board of directors came up last night, they walked the entire campus, they prayed over every teacher, our students, our family members, and committed this place to the Lord,” said Moser.
Moser added it is a tradition each year on the first day of school that board members, faculty and staff, gather for a collective prayer over the school and school year. Members of the CSS Senior Class also arrived early for a social distanced sunrise prayer service.
Of course, things are a little different for the 2020-21 school year with temperature checks for all faculty and staff before school, for students as they enter classrooms, hand sanitizing stations, and social distancing set up and being practiced in all areas of the school.
Dr. Moser said it’s not any one stand-alone thing that will help CCS operate effectively this year, but a comprehensive approach to do many things so they can establish and maintain a healthy and safe environment.
“I’ve been waiting since March since we had to go on virtual so I’m excited and ready for this day and ready to meet my families and my sweet little babies,” said Jody Farmer, show is going into her second year as a kindergarten teacher.
Senior Katie Haase said this about being back in school. “I’m so excited, I’m so extroverted and I missed all my friends and the community here. Being at home has been really hard,” Haase said.
Clarksville Christian School is growing in leaps and bounds according to Dr. Moser who said they are expanding their facility with new modular classroom units and we do have plans on working with the board of directors to evaluate and implement plans for further campus expansion.
