CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Christian Lady Centurions traveled to Welch College for the TSIAA State Championship game against the Boyd-Christian Broncos. The Lady Centurions dominated the entirety of the game and cruised to their fourth straight state championship victory by a score of 67-13.
The duo of Lauren Hassell, one of the top recruits in the class of 2027, and Niah Rhodes, who signed to play collegiate basketball with Florida A&M University, powered Clarksville Christian to victory. Hassell got it done inside, recording an 18-point, 11 rebound double-double. She also blocked three shots in the contest. As for Rhodes, she also outscored the opposing team herself by dropping 18 points. She also added seven steals to her stat line.
Hassell was named TSIAA State Tournament MVP, and Rhodes was named TSIAA Star of the Championship game. With it being the fourth straight state championship, the senior class for the Centurions has won a state championship every year they’ve played. Clarksville Christian will now look to compete for a national championship moving forward as their 2024-25 season continues.
“I’m so proud of what these young ladies have accomplished so far this year,” said Clarksville Christian head coach Trenton Hassell. “They have fought through a key injury of our point guard Nevaeh Brooks, key pieces who transferred, and one of the toughest schedules around no matter what class.
“This team has played against some of the best teams around in different states & always competed no matter the outcome. They found a way to stick together, continue to work, and never lose sight of the goals set for this team. They truly deserve all the success they have achieved so far this year & repeating as the 4-time TSIAA D1 State champs.”
