GALLATIN, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Christian Centurions traveled to Welch College for the TSIAA State Championship game against the Boyd Christian Broncos on Saturday. The Centurions won 75-44, led by MVP Marley Spires’ double-double, and earned their fifth straight state title.
“This is one of the most satisfying championships because of the adversity we’ve faced due to injuries. I’m proud of the way the girls stepped up during this run for our district and state tournaments. I think everyone contributed to Marley dominating the paint offensively and defensively, Charlese playing her best basketball to date, Jordyn running the team at the point and Kaydence and Maliyah contributing through injuries.”

As Hassell stated, the Centurions had to battle through injuries, but they have continued to have girls step up and just find a way to win. Spires finished the game with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and six blocks, while Trinity Smith finished with 14 points, and Kaydence Kindle added another 13 points and 10 rebounds. A lot of things have changed in the last five years, but one thing that hasn’t is that the Centurions are still holding the gold ball.
“Our only senior, Elizabeth, started at the guard position and did well in her role,” Hassell said. “Our young girls, Trinity, Sarah, and Caylee, played big minutes down the stretch as well. This was a total team effort, especially after losing Lauren to injury during our district tournament. The girls came together at the right time as a team.”
