CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The month of February ended Tuesday, wrapping up Black History Month, and the Clarksville Black History Month Committee hosted their 39th closing celebration dinner at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

The event drew close to 280 people to honor both local and national black ancestors, leaders and young people. The evening featured music and dance performances, historical portrayals, skits and more.

Cathy Adams-Johnson with the Black History Month Committee said the event celebrates black heritage and added that the organization is encouraging more youth to become involved to understand their black heritage and carry on the traditions of Black History Month.
