CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW)  – The Clarksville Area Ministerial Association (CAMA) invites citizens to take part in a blood drive to be held at First Baptist Church, 435 Madison St. Friday, April 10, from 9 a.m-4 p.m.

Blood Assurance, CAMA’s partner for the event, is a nonprofit, regional blood center which supplies over 60 healthcare facilities across Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. They are also a blood supplier for Tennova in Clarksville.

Donation will be taken be appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call (800) 962-0628, text ‘BAGIVE’ to 999777 or visit bloodassurance.org/Clarksville.

“We need people who work and live in Clarksville and surrounding counties to step up and donate blood,” said Bob Murray, account manager at Blood Assurance. “The CAMA is helping us during this critical time in our country. The need for blood donors is now, more important than ever, because of so many blood drive cancellations. This blood drive will help us ensure the patients get the blood products they need, when they need it”

For then safety of donors and staff, special protocols will be in place throughout the drive, including extra cleaning and new travel deferrals. Staff and potential blood donors will all be screened before the drive. Blood Assurance is also limiting the number of donors on the Bloodmobile at any given time.

CAMA President Bishop Anthony Alfred and Rev. Bill Graham will work with Bob Murray to limit numbers in the gym as well as in the Bloodmobile. As donors arrive, they will be asked to remain in their vehicles until the next available time.

Donating whole blood takes about 45 minutes and can impact up to three people in area hospitals. Donors can save time by answering their questions before their appointment in the Blood Assurance QuickScreen app, which can be downloaded here.
