CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Mark A. Kelly, chief operating officer and broker with The Air Assault Team, Keller Williams Realty, and retired active duty U.S. Army officer, as the chair-elect, first vice chairman of the Board of Directors.
“Mark is a great business leader in the community and a wonderful choice as the next chair-elect for the Chamber and we look forward to working with him,” said Chamber Executive Director Melinda Shepard.
He was commissioned active duty in 1975, and he served in eight continental locations as well as the Federal Republic of Germany, South Korea and Saudi Arabia. He led soldiers from the platoon to brigade (provisional) level before retiring in August 2001. In 2002 he began his career in real estate with Keller-Williams Realty as an investor-owner, and in 2006 he became the company’s managing partner. He led Keller Williams Realty-Clarksville to become the 13th most productive company in the Keller Williams Realty International system in 2009.
Kelly has long been actively involved in the community since moving to the area in 1992 and is a well-established business leader. From 2002-2009, he served on the County Commission, including serving on several committees, most notably as chair of the Legislative Liaison Committee during the term the county’s adequate facilities tax was developed as a methodology to fund the growing school system.
Kelly is a graduate of the Leadership Clarksville Class of 2004, served from 2013-2014 as secretary-treasurer of the Clarksville-Area Chamber of Commerce and has and has participated with Citizens for Fort Campbell on three occasions. Kelly was appointed to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission (2012-2020) and is the commission’s representative to the Clarksville Board of Zoning Appeals (2013-2020). He was married to Valerie Hunter-Kelly and is the proud father of two daughters, Antoinette Nicole and Ashley Noel.
The Chamber elects new leadership each fiscal year, with the fiscal year running from July 1 to June 30. The Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and ex-officio members of the board attend quarterly meetings, provide direction for Chamber staff and volunteers, and manage the finances of the Chamber.
