CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – According to the financial tech company Smart Asset, Clarksville is ranked one of the 25 fastest-growing cities in the United States over a five-year span.

Smart Asset examined US population data from 344 of the largest cities in the nation to determine which cities had the highest growth rate from 2017 to 2022. The cities that were examined had a population of 100,000 or higher in 2022, according to the research study.

The state of Tennessee had two cities ranked in the top 25: Murfreesboro and Clarksville.

Murfreesboro came in at No. 16 with a growth percentage of 19.1% over five years.

As for Clarksville, they came in at No. 22 with a growth percentage of 15.5% over five years. So, from 2017 to 2022, Clarksville went from a population of 153,210 to 176,977, which is the most recent population estimate.

Montgomery County has a total population of 235,201, according to U.S Census Bureau estimates as of July 2022.

Buckeye, Arizona, had the highest growth rate in the nation (54.3%). Next were Enterprise, Nevada (37.8%), and Goodyear, Arizona (32%).

This report comes after Clarksville was named the fastest growing city in Tennessee in year-over-year population growth, according to previous reports.
