CLARKSVILLE, TN – Clarksville Academy student scholar Tanner Wilson attended the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University earlier this month. WYSE partners with the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and the Conservation Biology Institute for high school delegates nationwide.

The Summit is a hands-on interactive program that provides America’s highest achieving high school students with an interest in the environment, conservation, and sustainability and the desire to explore careers in environmental science, conservation, policy, law, and engineering, with remarkable opportunities.

Approximately 300 national youth delegates were invited based on teacher and alums recommendations. The invitations go to a select number of students who exhibit academic excellence with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and who express interest in environmental science. Students actively participate in the curriculum by exploring the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and exclusive field visits, special access to, and activities with researchers, scientists, directors, and staff. Tanner, a Clarksville Academy rising Junior, spent time exploring and learning about environmental science.
