CLARKSVILLE, TN – Drew Miller, a rising sophomore at Clarksville Academy, was a delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders held June 21-23 in Boston at the University of Massachusetts. The Congress is an honors-only program for high school students wanting to become physicians or pursue medical research.

Dr. Mario Capecchi, the Nobel Prize in Medicine winner and the Science Director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists, signed Drew’s nomination. During the three-day Congress, Drew joined students from across the country and heard from three Nobel Laureates and National Medal of Science recipients, discussed leading medical research, received advice from Ivy League and top medical school deans on what to expect in medical school, witnessed stories by patients who are living medical miracles, learn about cutting-edge advances and the future in medicine and medical technology and even observed a live surgery.

This is a crucial time in America when we need more doctors and medical scientists who are even better prepared for a future that is changing exponentially. While at the Congress, Drew was also inducted into The Society of Torch & Laurel, which is an honors program developed by The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) to recognize high school high achievers and will earn collegiate credit for his attendance with the Congress.
